Elijah Smiley is a judge of the 14th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was elected on September 5, 2006, and took office the following January. He was re-elected in 2012 and 2018. He served as chief judge from 2015 to 2019.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Smiley received bachelor's degrees in both Government and Accounting from Florida State University. He later became a C.P.A. and earned his MBA from the University of West Florida. He received his J.D. degree from the Florida State University School of Law.[2][5]

Career

Smiley worked as a managing attorney for Legal Service of North Florida, a staff attorney for Northwest Florida Legal Services, an Assistant Public Defender and a private practice lawyer prior to becoming a judge. He served on the Bay County Court from 1995 through 2006 and then joined the circuit court in 2007.[2]

2012 election

Smiley was unopposed and automatically re-elected following the primary election on August 14, 2012.[6]
