What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
COMMUNICATION AND TRANSPARENCY Prompt responses to your questions and timely announcements about events and issues ensuring your input is heard and you have an opportunity to participate in the discussion before decisions are made SMART DEVELOPMENT Growth that preserves the character of our neighborhoods, increases the prosperity of our families, and protects our natural resources OUR FAIR SHARE Infrastructure projects for education, stormwater, sidewalks, litter prevention, transit, libraries, and community centers. We have already paid taxes for this infrastructure, but the city has not delivered this infrastructure as its part of the contract. VALUES-BASED BUDGETING Budgets that reflect the values of our neighborhoods and ensures funding is spread across Nashville – prioritizing education and city employees
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Most people don't realize that the vast majority of the bills that come in front of the Nashville Council are related to planning and zoning. I support smart development that respects the community-driven policy set back Nashville Next. The people who live and work in Nashville to make this city the "it" city deserve the same fair share of input and resources as the downtown tourist areas. I will fight for the people of our district.
Are there any little-known powers or responsibilities held by this office that you believe more people should be aware of?
Each Nashville Councilperson has the ability to approve or deny zoning changes beyond the Planning Commission - including for Special Plan (SP) zoning changes that would allow building outside the existing zoning and policy of a particular parcel of property.
