Campaign themes

2016

Garza's campaign website listed the following themes for 2016:

I decided to run for County Judge in order to further impact my community in a positive way. After living 10 years in Houston I feel that many of my life's experiences and exposure to diversity and innovative ideas can be implemented in Cameron County in order to improve our infrastructure, business, beautification and provide a better quality of life for Cameron County residents.

I was disheartened to learn that the FBI had to create a task force to "clean up" pervasive misconduct with public servants in the RGV. I believe this county is ready for Real Change.

In order to restore faith in our public servants we need transparency and accountability. I know I can bring that to this office. I find it interesting that I can go online and find my senator's voting record but I can't find our county representatives' record. Constituents should know whether their elected officials are representing their voice. As Cameron County Judge my decisions will reflect what the majority of my constituents want. I want to bring our county government back to the people and implement user friendly technology to keep constituents informed of meetings and decisions impacting their communities.

I will Emphasize growing our local economy by hiring business owners in our own county and keeping our money here. I believe we have exceptional local talent and there isn't a need to hire companies outside our county or state without giving our local businesses preference. I will Continue the beautification and expansion of parks such as Isla Blanca in order to further attract tourism and really expose the history that Cameron County has to offer. [3]
