Elizabeth H. Martin
Elizabeth H. Martin was a Minnesota Tenth Judicial District judge for Washington County, Minnesota. Following an appointment by Gov. Carlson, she was first elected by voters in 2000 and was re-elected in 2006 and again in 2012.[1] She retired from the court on June 7, 2013.[2]
Education
Martin received her B.S. degree from the University of Duluth in 1970. She worked as an English teacher in Duluth, MN until 1973. She then worked for a year (1976-77) as the Lead Intake Social Worker for the St. Joseph's Home for Children. She received her law degree from the William Mitchell College of Law in 1980.[1]
Career
Martin began her legal career as a Legal Services Advisor for the Hennepin County Public Defender. In May of 1980, she joined the law firm Doherty, Rumble & Butler. She served in the Professional Association Litigation Department and was a shareholder of this firm from 1987 until 1998.[1]
Elections
2012
Martin ran unopposed in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3] She received 99.20 percent of the vote.[4]
