My name is Lisa Haderlein and I am running to represent the residents of Illinois’ 16th Congressional District. I have lived in the District as it exists today for 32 years. The first 11 in Peoria county, and the past 21 in Harvard, a small City in McHenry county. I am an Alderwoman in Harvard and serve on the City Library board. My husband, Tom Cubr, and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary this year. For the last 20 years, I have run a small business, a nonprofit land conservation organization in McHenry Co.
  • A woman’s right to choose whether or not to have children is a private matter, and the government should not intervene.
  • The Nation’s natural resources, including clean air, clean water, productive farmland, and healthy natural habitats, are precious, and legacy laws that support them should be strengthened, not diminished.
  • The Affordable Care Act has resulted in 20 million+ individuals having insurance, some for the first time. It has saved 10’s of thousands of lives, and also kept many thousands from bankruptcy. The ACA needs to be strengthened and expanded.
Women’s rights and conservation issues are my two passions, and they have been since I was a Girl Scout. Other issues that motivate me to action are: 1 ensuring that America continues to be a beacon of hope for people around the world who wish to come here for a better life; 2. Equal protection for all residents of the US, regardless of race, religion, gender, country of birth or state of residence; 3. Expansion of voting rights.
