Elizabeth Kim (Hawaii)
Elizabeth Kim is the former nominee for Hawaii Director of Labor and Industrial Relations. Kim was appointed by Governor David Ige (D) on January 5, 2015. She would have succeeded Dwight Takamine as director.[1][2][3] Kim's nomination never reached a confirmation vote, as it was discovered that she had not resided in Hawaii for the year preceding her appointment, making her ineligible for the position. Ige rescinded his nomination in late January.[4][5]
The director heads the Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, the state agency responsible for administering Hawaii's labor regulations, its unemployment insurance and workforce development programs, and producing research and statistics regarding the state labor market.

After graduating from Kaiser High School, Kim received a bachelor's degree from Pomona College and a law degree from the University of Arizona College of Law.[1]
Kim has held various leadership roles throughout her career, including president of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Greater Washington, D.C., and chair of the D.C. Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs.[1]
