Elizabeth M. Tanner was the Rhode Island Secretary of Commerce. Tanner assumed office on June 27, 2022. Tanner left office on June 3, 2025.

Biography

Tanner received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Rhode Island in 1993, and a law degree from Western New England College School of Law in 1997. Before her appointment as secretary, Tanner served as the director for the Department of Business Regulation.[1]

Political career

Director of Business Regulation (2017-2022)

Tanner served as Rhode Island Director of Business Regulation from 2017-2022. She was appointed by Gov. Gina Raimondo to replace outgoing director Scottye Lindsey.[2]
