Elizabeth W. Magner
Elizabeth W. Magner is a former chief judge for the United States bankruptcy court, Eastern District of Louisiana. She was appointed to the court on September 9, 2005, and was elevated to the position of chief judge on September 1, 2011, succeeding Judge Jerry A. Brown in that role. She retired from the court on the day her term expired, September 8, 2019.[1][2][3][4]
Education
Magner earned a bachelor of science and a J.D. from Louisiana State University.[5]
Career
Prior to joining the court, Magner began her legal career with the law firm of Lemle & Kelleher, where she joined the partnership after working for several years as an associate in the firm's bankruptcy and commercial litigation group. She then left the firm to work as a solo practitioner, focusing her practice on bankruptcy-related matters.[6]
