Three seats on the Elko County Board of Trustees were up for general election on November 4, 2014. A primary election was held on June 10, 2014, where three candidates were unopposed in their bids for the four-year terms. Due to the lack of contested races, none of these candidates appeared on the ballot in the general election. Incumbents Daniel Mahlberg and Thad S. Ballard retained their District 1 and 6 seats, respectively. District 7 incumbent Lou Basanez reached the 12-year term limit and could not run for the office, again.[1]

R. Jeff Williams won the District 7 seat in the primary election but withdrew due to a conflict of interest. The board was responsible for appointing a new member to fill the vacancy.[2][3]
