Preservation of Democracy (Voting rights and non-partisan redistricting); Expansion of Healthcare Access and Affordability in Virginia; Infrastructure include rural high speed data.
Healthcare - As a physician, I have worked in safety net medicine since I left training. I spent time in hospitals in France, New Zealand and other countries during Medical School. We spend more money for less health than anybody else. Obtaining medical care is more stressful here than other places. We can do better.
Elizabeth Warren. I'm a left of center, liberal technocrat who realizes that governance is more than politics. We need to look at how things work, figure out what the goal is, and figure out how to get there step by step.
Everything by Lois McMaster Bujold, also the Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison and The Ancillary Trilogy by Anne Leckie. Also, the West Wing TV show.
Honesty (not just verbal but fiscal), Wisdom and Compassion.
I see things in systems, and I don't believe in letting the perfect get in the way of good. EX: I want to completely overhaul the way legislative districts in Virginia are set up, but I'll take non-partisan redistricting as a start.
To actually read all of the bills voted upon, and to study government and governance.
Reagan getting elected in 1980, I was in sixth grade. I had no idea the path he was setting the country on. Ugh.
