I am a judge on the Milwaukee County Circuit Court. I was first elected in an open race in April, 2009. Because the seat had been vacant for some time, the Governor then appointed me to start my term May 1, 2009. I was re-elected without opposition in 2015 and 2021. I have presided over cases ranging from homicide, sexual assault, child sexual abuse and pornography, domestic violence, drug treatment, civil and child welfare in my years on the bench.
  • I apply the law as written by the legislature, and respect the separation of powers.
  • I treat all persons with dignity and respect.
  • I believe in a fair, neutral, non-partisan, independent judiciary.
I don't do public policy. That is the legislature's job. I have, however, innovated in the courts to help address criminal and juvenile delinquent acts. For example, I presided over our drug treatment/veteran's treatment court for two years. I also have received a grant from WI DOJ to create a diversion program for the juvenile justice system in Milwaukee County. I am passionate creating more tools in the toolbox of our justice systems to address these difficult issues.
