Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

My name is Ellen Minetto, a retired school teacher and mother of graduates here in Washoe County. I am a current School Board Trustee and I am up for re-election in 2022. ​I taught music for 31 years, 29 of those years in Washoe County elementary schools. After retiring in 2018, I ran for the school board.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• I bring to the board a perspective a teacher, having taught in Washoe County for 31 years.
• As a retired teacher, and now experienced board member, I know what it takes to help get our students to graduation.
• I'm a parent with kids that graduated from the Washoe County School District, so I have a vested interest in the future of our students.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

- Decreasing classroom sizes

- Increasing academic achievement among students
- Increasing our graduation rates
- Equipping our educators with everything they need to be successful, including fair wages so they can afford to live in the communities they serve our students in

- Creating robust recruitment and retainment strategies so that we can fill in our educator gap which so many schools and students are suffering from
