Emanuel Pleitez
Emanuel Pleitez is the Chief Strategy Officer at Spokeo.[1]
Pleitez worked for the Obama-Biden Presidential transition team in 2008 as a member of its U.S. Treasury Review team. In 2009, he was appointed by the Obama administration as a special assistant to Paul Volcker and to Obama's Economic Recovery Advisory Board. He subsequently worked for McKinsey & Company as a management consultant, going on to work for Spokeo, a technology company based in Los Angeles.[2]
Pleitez worked in two different stints for Antonio Villaraigosa in 2003 and 2005. He first was a field aide in El Sereno and later became Villaraigosa's personal assistant.[2]
Pleitez is the founder of two nonprofit organizations that focus on leadership development: Latinos on the Fast Track (LOFT) Institute and the Latino Legacy Weekend. He is the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and the Salvadoran American Leadership and Education Fund. He is also a member of the "No Labels" movement.[2]

Pleitez ran in the March 5, 2013 mayoral primary as a candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles. He came in 5th in the crowded primary and therefore did not proceed to the May 21 mayoral general election.

Issues
Pension reform:
At a forum for mayoral candidates on August 16, sponsored by Ya Basta and the East Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Pleitez said that when it comes to the city's ballooning annual payouts in pensions, "all options are on the table" and "If we do have to declare bankruptcy… someone’s got to do it."[3]
Partnership for Los Angeles Schools:
The Partnership for Los Angeles School is a nonprofit organization created by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa for the purpose of solving problems at the city's worst performing schools by putting them under alternative management. At an August 2012 mayoral forum, Pleitez said the Partnership is "not necessary."[3]
