Emil Jones (Democratic Party) is a member of the Illinois State Senate, representing District 14. He assumed office in 2009. His current term ends on January 13, 2027.

Biography
Jones' professional experience includes working as an administrator of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Jones is the grandson of former Senate President Emil Jones II, who retired in 2008.

Noteworthy events
Charged with federal bribery (2022)
On September 20, 2022, Jones was charged with federal bribery related with the use of red-light cameras in Chicago. Jones allegedly sought $5,000 to exclude some Chicago suburbs from a study of red-light cameras. Jones was also charged with making the arrangements through interstate commerce and lying to federal agents.[11][12]
Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) called for Jones' resignation on September 22. Following the charges, Jones gave up his leadership positions in the Senate.[12]
On September 23, Jones pleaded not guilty and waived his right to be indicted by a grand jury.
