Emily Anne Gullickson is the Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction. She assumed office on March 27, 2025. Her current term ends on January 17, 2026.
Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) appointed Gullickson as Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction on March 27, 2025 to replace former Superintendent Lisa Coons.[1]
Biography
Prior to her appointment as Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction, Gullickson worked as Virginia Deputy Secretary of Education from July 2023 to March 2025.[2]
Education
Gullickson earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from St. Lawrence University, a Master of Education from Arizona State University, and a J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. [3]
