I believe that investing in strong public schools means investing in the future of our community. As a proud public school graduate, I have seen how equitable access to education creates opportunity for every student. My commitment to Elkhorn Public Schools is both professional and personal as an engaged community member and aunt to two current EPS students, including one supported through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

I bring extensive leadership and governance experience across local and national boards, with a focus on expanding access to education. I serve on the University of Nebraska at Omaha Alumni Association Board and help oversee more than $1 million in annual scholarship and fellowship funding as a Director of the Delta Gamma Foundation. I am also Board Chair of Saving Grace Perishable Food Rescue, lead cancer policy advocacy through Susan G. Komen, and support community grantmaking through Women Investing in Nebraska.

Professionally, I have nearly a decade of experience in higher education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha as an adjunct marketing professor and staff leader in marketing, government relations, and engagement. I now lead strategic brand communications at Mutual of Omaha, including work on the Emmy nominated Wild Kingdom brand.

  • Strong Leadership, Not Politics. School boards should focus on strategy, accountability, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, not day-to-day operations. I am committed to setting a clear long-term vision, maintaining strong oversight, and trusting educators to do what they do best.
  • Planning for Growth Without Compromising Excellence. Elkhorn’s growth is a strength, but it must be managed thoughtfully. I support intentional, sustainable planning that prepares for future neighborhoods while maintaining the high standards that make our schools exceptional.
  • Opportunity and Support for Every Student. Every student deserves access to the support and opportunities they need to succeed. I will prioritize inclusive policies, family-centered approaches, and strong early education to ensure all learners can thrive.
I’m most passionate about effective governance, responsible use of taxpayer resources, and ensuring student safety both in and out of the classroom. Strong boards set clear vision and accountability, fiscal responsibility protects the long-term strength of our schools, and prioritizing both physical and digital safety ensures students can focus on learning in a secure environment.

Priorities for Elkhorn

Through thoughtful conversations with Elkhorn families and community members, Emily has identified five core priorities that will guide her service on the Elkhorn Board of Education.

01 Strategic Leadership, Not Politics

prioritize the following work:

Clear long-term direction, not politics

Oversight, not micromanagement

Trusting and empowering educators and administrators

02 Smart Planning for Growth

Elkhorn's top-ranked schools continue to attract new families and fuel community expansion. Emily believes that this growth must be managed

thoughtfully when it comes to our schools. She believes this can be done:

Intentional, sustainable, and scalable planning

Prepared for future neighborhoods

Never at the expense of excellence

03 Access to Education for Every Learner

Emily believes that strong school governance must ensure equitable access to opportunity and support, so all students can thrive. She will focus on work that prioritizes the following:

Inclusive policies for students with disabilities and diverse learning needs

Family-centered strategies that respect diverse backgrounds

Support for early childhood education and school readiness

04 Future-Ready Learners

Preparing students for a world shaped by Al and rapid tech advancement, while keeping critical thinking and academic foundations strong is important to Emily. She commits to these priorities:

Thoughtful investment in modern classroom technology

Expanded career pathways including skilled trades and healthcare

Partnerships with local employers to strengthen Elkhorn's workforce

05 Safe, Secure, and Supported Schools

Emily believes that safety is not limited to the physical spaces. Students deserve environments that protect their physical safety, mental health, and digital privacy. She will prioritize these policies:

Crisis preparedness and building security

Proactive mental health support systems

Cybersecurity policies that safeguard student information
