Campaign themes
2014
Rodriguez's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[2]
Full Funding for Education
- Excerpt: "I will bring real resources to our district schools-- like funding, supplies, and volunteers to support our wonderful teachers and staff. In addition, I will work with existing after school programs, mentors, and community groups to supplement the education our kids receive in school."
Development without Displacement
- Excerpt: "As State Representative, I'll push for further incentive to keep our communities from pricing out long term residents and work to build a more united neighborhood."
Safe Streets
- Excerpt: "Too often, our Harrisburg officials like to pass the buck on tackling crime, claiming it's a city issue-- not a state issue. I completely disagree. I believe we need all levels of our government working in tandem to reduce crime and increase the amount of opportunities for our kids to avoid that lifestyle."
Creating & Keeping Quality Jobs
- Excerpt: "I'll take a hands on approach to getting the unemployed residents of this district well-paying jobs by working with residents through a career counselor position I will create in my office. I will work with our local businesses and unions to get greater women and minority presence on our job sites and get more state funding freed up for local infrastructure improvement."
