I'm a husband, father, business owner, and a man of faith. I have proudly served the people in my district through my insurance agency, Mid Atlantic Insurance Financial located in Laurel, MD. This allowed me to participate in numerous food drives, toy drives, clothing drives, donations to local charities and volunteering in festivals and parades that bring our community together. I also had the privilege to volunteer my time to coach football and track which allows me to give back to our youth and future leaders of tomorrow.
  • Mental health issues have been apart of American society since the creation of this country. We need a lasting resolution for those who suffer from an illness that others may deem as a threat. In 2024 America should have more prevention, early intervention and education measures for people, especially our youth. It seems as though our last resort is to put people in jail or a mental institution. Neither of these outcomes are sustainable as a long term solution. Parents need more options to turn to, and doctors and law enforcement need more resources to provide real solutions to this pressing issue.
  • Common sense gun laws and crime prevention are necessary for our community to be safe. I'm a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment. I am a proud gun owner and believe that responsible citizens should be allowed to bear arms. An arsenal of firearms that include weapons of war and mass destruction should not be permitted to civilians. I believe in background checks and having a clean criminal record to obtain such a weapon.
  • Inflation and housing costs in the state of Maryland are blocking far too many families from living their "American Dream". Cost of living has skyrocketed while wages have not. Yes, we have increased minimum wage, but people making way more are still incapable of affording a home that they could have afforded 5 years ago. If the current generation is locked out of the market, imagine their offspring and how they will struggle to survive. Let's give everyone a fair chance of success.
My first job was as a dishwasher at Red Lobster. I applied for the job because I decided to take a year off from football at my high school. Growing up in my household, you either did extracurricular activities at school or you had to work. Therefore, I worked my way from dishwasher, to making biscuits, to "fry-guy", to plate assembly in about a year's time. After that, I decided to play football again in my senior year which paid off because I was able to earn a full scholarship to Virginia Tech. I strongly believe that every teenager should have some work experience if their situation allows. I am grateful of the roots that were planted with my first job 28 years ago.
I'm a firm believer in term limits. My generation will eventually have to step aside and let the next generation have the ability to lead. It's only right. I believe that those that may oppose my sentiments do not trust the next generation to lead and that's due to their inability to prepare them as leaders.

Interview with The Baltimore Sun

Johnson highlighted the following themes in an interview with The Baltimore Sun on March 14, 2024. The questions from The Baltimore Sun are bolded and Johnson's responses follow below.[2]

Why are you running for office?
I am running because I bring a fresh, new perspective as I am not a politician. I am an entrepreneur with a track record of getting things done and knowing what it takes to imagine, create, build and nurture opportunities until they make an impact on everyone I lead and represent. I feel like I can do that for District 4 of Maryland, and the American people.

Do you believe, as President Joe Biden has said, that “democracy is on the ballot” and, if so, in what way?
Yes, democracy is always on the ballot. Which is the point of the ballot. Whichever way the American people vote, that outcome is the definition of democracy. No matter who the winner is.

Will you accept the presidential election result once the totals have been certified by the states and any legal challenges adjudicated?
Yes, absolutely and always.

Do you support additional assistance for Ukraine’s military forces two years into Russia’s invasion?
If I stand for democracy, I must stand with Ukraine.

Should the United States be speaking out more clearly, as Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen has suggested, about civilian casualties in Gaza?
Israel has the right to protect themselves, but I do think there must be a stronger emphasis on protecting civilians in Gaza. As an American, I can’t think of no other way. Innocent people must be protected.

Should Congress act to protect abortion rights following the Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs decision?
Yes I believe that a woman has a right to choose. Every American should be privileged with a right of choice. If we are told what to do, when to do it and how to do it; we are no longer living by American values.[3]
