Energy and Manufacturing Committee, West Virginia House of Delegates
The Energy and Manufacturing Committee (formerly the Energy Committee) is a standing committee of the West Virginia House of Delegates.[1]
Per the House Rules, West Virginia House of Delegates committees are assigned by the Speaker of the House, unless the House orders otherwise. The Speaker must designate a chair for all standing committees and may also designate a vice chair. Additionally, the Speaker serves as an ex officio voting member and chair of the Rules Committee. A majority of committee members constitutes a quorum.[2]

Function
According to the House Rules, the Energy and Manufacturing Committee handles the following subject areas:
“ | (a) Mining and extraction of coal and other fossil fuels; (b) extraction and distribution of natural gas; (c) energy production employment, safety, local land use and community impacts; (d) alternative energy development and efficiency measures; and (e) manufacturing generally.[3][4] | ” |
