Women like me are not supposed to run for office. I'm a product of systemic poverty and the foster care system. I was a teenage mother and have been homeless. I was a single mother, working at fast food restaurants to try to pay my bills. My passion to serve was born from these struggles. I am now a proud, LGBTQ Latina leader in Allentown ready to take the next steps to offer our district true representation in Harrisburg. I am a progressive leader who believes all of us can win. Pennsylvania must be a place where our paths are not defined by our zip code, but by the power we can build together.
  • I will enact a fair funding formula that addresses inequality in our public schools.
  • I will work on policy that ensures safe, affordable housing is treated as a right, not an option.
  • I will work to reform the way the criminal justice system treats the incarcerated, work to end mass incarceration and mass supervision.
Along with those three key messages, I am passionate about:

A $15 minimum wage in Pennsylvania to support a thriving family
Transparency in government
Treating all Pennsylvanians with equity and dignity
Legalizing recreational marijuana
Standing with a woman's right to own her body and making reproductive care available to all
LGBTQIA+ equality in all things, including housing

Standing with all immigrants and their path to citizenship; ensuring that even without papers, they can live in PA without fear
I am humbled to be able to call my mentor, Jose Rosado, the person I admire the most. Mr. Rosado was my guidance counselor, school principal, and the only person I trusted while dealing with poverty, racism, abuse, among other challenges. As a young woman, I was able to see the man I admired, someone who looked like me, become the first Latinx mayor of the state of Pennsylvania. Mr. Rosado is also a warrior for underserved youth in the Allentown School District who risked his career and reputation to speak up for those without a voice, those forgotten, those left behind. I look forward to continuing to grow with the guidance of Mr. Rosado.
I believe the core responsibilities of an elected official are to represent their constituents, to understand their struggles, and to provide true representation.
I want to leave a legacy of hope. I want my children to see their mom go from a homeless teen to someone who fights and achieves goals for her community and all Pennsylvanians. I want my constituents to see someone who looks like them and been through the same adversities not be stopped, or even slowed down. My legacy will be a legacy of fighting for the forgotten and voiceless. I want anyone who meets me to have felt welcomed, valued, respected, and acknowledged.
The Champion by Carrie Underwood featuring Ludacris
As a state legislator, organizational leadership experience is more important than experience in government or politics. A fresh set of eyes and real-life experience will allow new legislators the opportunity to speak creatively about issues. Living the struggles your community deals with will help keep you grounded, reminding you why you decided to run for office in the first place
Economic inequality will continue to be the most challenging issue in Pennsylvania. According to the Economic Analysis Research Network, in the past 30 years, the top 1% of Pennsylva nia earners have taken home more than half the total increase in income. This 1% also saw more than 10 times as much growth in income as the bottom 99%. These economic inequalities will continue to impact housing, education, and more. We have to do something about this now.
I met a single mother recently who called me desperate to find a new place to leave. We searched for two months and applied for every affordable housing unit in the city, only to find out the wait was over two years long. Sadly, this story does not have a happy ending: this family became homeless. I want to make sure cases like this are not the norm in our district because housing is a human right.
