Enos Fouratt is a judge on the Chaves County Magistrate Court, Division II, in New Mexico. He was appointed by Governor Susana Martinez (R) on September 30, 2015, to fill the vacancy left by the death of John J. Halvorson.[1] Fouratt won election in the general election on November 8, 2016.[2]
Career
Fouratt worked with the New Mexico State Police Department and the New Mexico Military Institute Police Department for two decades before his appointment. He was a member of the New Mexico Public Safety Commission from 2013 to 2014.[1]

Judges of the New Mexico Magistrate Courts are each elected to four-year terms.[4] The elections for this court are partisan contested elections. To serve on this court, a judge must be a qualified elector of the district and have a high school diploma or equivalent. In districts with a population greater than 200,000 people, a judge must also be licensed to practice law in New Mexico.[5]
