Eric A. Ludlow is a Utah Fifth Judicial District judge for the St. George District Court.[1] Ludlow was appointed to this position in March 2003 and retained again in 2012. His current term expires in 2018.[2]

Ludlow received his J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1987.[2]

Ludlow stood for retention election in 2012. On November 6, 2012, Ludlow was retained with 84.7 percent of the vote and a total of 52,476 votes.[3][4]

Judicial Performance Evaluation recommendation

The Utah Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission compiled information from attorneys, court staff and jurors about the performance of all judges up for retention in 2012. Judges were evaluated based on five criteria.

A judge must score at least 3 out of 5 in each of these categories to meet the minimum performance standard. 86 attorneys responded to the following questions.

  • Legal Ability: 4.24
  • Communication: 4.17
  • Integrity: 4.46
  • Judicial temperament: 4.45
  • Administrative: 4.20
