Eric A. Aarseth was a superior court judge for the Third Judicial District in Anchorage, Alaska. He was retained for a six-year term in 2010. He the retention election on November 8, 2016. He retired from office February 6, 2023.

Biographical information

Eric Alan Aarseth was born November 25, 1962 Minnesota. After completing his legal education, Aarseth joined the US Army as a JAG Corps officer in 1991. He served one tour of duty at Fort Richardson (dead link) in Alaska; then was honorably discharged. For the next eight years, he served as a prosecutor for the State of Alaska, Department of Law. Aarseth then moved to the Torts Section of the Department's Civil Division for three years before taking the bench.

Education

Aarseth received his Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering from The University of Minnesota, Institute of Technology (dead link) in 1987. He went on to earn his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 1990.[1]

Career

In November 2005, Aarseth was appointed to the Anchorage Superior Court by Governor Frank Murkowski. He had applied for an Anchorage District Court judgeship twice in 2004. While he was nominated by the Judicial Council both times, he was not appointed by Governor Murkowski.[1]

2010

Aarseth was retained in 2010.[2] He was recommended for retention by the Alaska Judicial Council.[3][4]
