Campaign themes

2017

Davis highlighted the following issues on his campaign website:

My goals are to help strengthen our district and to protect it from the un-needed interference from big government. I was born here, raised here, and I graduated here. I understand the pressures of this generation and the new distractions. Therefore, I want to bring this experience to the board and help solve these new issues.

Education is the cornerstone of any strong society and we, as educators and parents, have no greater contribution to the next generation than to prepare them for the difficulties of building a brighter future. District 20 is a thriving district, but that doesn’t mean it can’t grow and become even better. We need to continue to set higher expectations and greater accountability, but above all, we need to continue to create a culture of Excellence and Self Improvement! We see around the country a breakdown in society through culture, disrespect, and a lazy work ethic; we cannot fail our children here locally!

We don’t need more bureaucrats or politicians; we need Leaders. We need leaders grounded in principles to guide this future. We need people who are willing to work tirelessly to shift culture to a place of responsibility and integrity. We need young leaders who understand what it’s like to be in this battle, who have grown up with the new distractions of technology, who understand the ever-growing pressure our nation is under, and most of all who have achieved success in the face of these challenges!

Schools are meant to be places of mental and character development. They are supposed to be places where respect, civility, and discipline are being taught so that our children will walk away after their senior year of high school ready to be an active and strong member of our community. Teachers are some of our greatest resources, and we need to empower, train, and help them reach their full potential and help them not burn out and lose their zeal for reaching our children.[4]
