Eric Morse is an author, educator, and single father of four school-aged children. As a native of the 89th District, he cares deeply about the health, safety, and opportunity of our children and communities. Eric is running to stem the tide of extremism in Missouri state government, and specifically put an end to the string of unethical State Reps that have brought shame on the people of the 89th District.
  • Restore our rights of bodily autonomy and reproductive freedoms. No one in Jefferson City should have the right to dictate what you can do with your body.
  • Protect our children and communities from gun violence. We CAN honor our Second Amendment rights while keeping our schools and malls safe. We can keep firearms out of the wrong hands and enforce more responsible gun ownership.
  • Stop the Missouri brain-drain. A new investment in our communities—from our schools to our seniors to our mental health services—will revive our communities, restore livability, and bring talent IN to Missouri, instead of raising our kids here and then watching them migrate elsewhere. Extremism in state government has created a hostile environment for young, highly talented professionals, whether that means doctors who don't feel safe to practice medicine in Missouri on account of draconian abortion bans, or creative fields that can attract talent because of statewide hostility to our urban centers, these are fixable problems, and Eric will work across the aisle to revive opportunity in the state.
Reproductive rights, gun safety, community revival
I look up to my father. A United States Marine Corp veteran, lifelong educator, and fiercely religious, he showed me that one can be principled and also open-minded; he taught me the importance of the separation of church and state, and that ethics are more important than party.
Integrity, solution-orientedness, collaboration, service-mindedness
Eric believes a State Rep should listen to their constituents and be responsive to their needs. Our communities need leadership that is more interested in solutions than in partisanship, and we can work together to improve our state.
The state legislature should represent the citizens of the state in keeping the governor's office in check. The relationship should be cooperative, but not subservient.
Missouri faces a crisis of leadership. The Republican elected officials are too busy preening for Fox News cameras and trawling for social media clout to actually listen to their constituents. They have enacted draconian bans and blood-thirsty policies that are hurting the people, the economy, and the future of our state—all in the interest of getting more attention from far-right media. Missourians are suffering. Our schools, our healthcare, and our communities need help. I believe in working across the aisle with any solutions-oriented people, but fighting DC culture wars only moves us backward.
It can be, but it's not necessary. The most important thing for a state legislator is to be in touch with the needs of their communities.
Yes, absolutely. This is how we can begin to break the gridlock and actually serve our citizens again.
I believe in Democracy: one person, one vote, and majority rule. I believe ballot initiatives should continue to be settled on a 50% + 1 basis.
