I believe governments role in our lives is to create and maintain a safe, secure and stable foundation for the citizens and businesses within its borders to thrive.
  • Lower Taxes: I want to focus on lowering or removing the sales tax, which each person pays equally but has a greater effect on lower income families the most we all need food and toilet paper. I also want to lower taxes on small businesses. As the primary drivers of economic growth, small businesses are the ones that are most likely to reinvest any money saved from tax breaks. I firmly believe there is a way to lower taxes and still maintain or improve state services. This belief is why, if elected, I will go through the various appropriations bills, line by line, to recommend funding changes to leadership of both parties.
  • Lower Utility Costs: Utility costs continue to increase for all Missourians, which means less money in your pocket every day. I want to work with local and state water, electrical, gas, cable and internet utilities to figure out ways to save you money every month.
  • Elderly Assistance and Caregiver Support: Taking care of the elderly among us has increasingly become the responsibility of their children and this has caused great strain on families as they juggle careers, kids and taking care of parents. Since most caregivers are family and untrained, this makes for uneven care. I would like to work with state, local and private organizations to determine solutions for elderly long-term care and housing that everyone can afford.
I am most passionate about the areas that help improve society such as tax policy and assistance programs for those in need. I also firmly believe in auditing spending to follow where every dollar goes using a similar process to that of the famous, bipartisan "Truman Committee" run by then Senator Harry S. Truman to maximize US war production during WWII.
I believe the core responsibilities for someone in elected office are first to understand that you serve the people that elected you, because you are their "Representative" to the body of government. Second, while in office you must always put the wants and needs of the electorate ahead of your own the same way a parent puts the wants and needs of their children ahead of their own. Finally, one must understand that the decisions made will have a lasting impact on society so every vote is important and should be backed up with research and understanding of the subject.
I would like to make the lives of those in my district and the state of Missouri better for the long term and position the state of Missouri as a state that is competitive economically and societally with the larger states in the US.
The 1998 airstrikes ordered by President Bill Clinton against Iraq. I was 10 years old at the time.
