I am a Beachwood City Councilman with a passion to serve, a vision to lead, and a commitment to community.

I am an experienced, pragmatic, service-focused public official.

I am a husband, father, attorney, and community leader.
  • I will fight for defending democracy, LGBTQIA+ and womens rights, fair school funding, and common-sense gun reform.
  • I am a bridge-builder and a compromiser and, when possible, will work across the aisle to move Ohio forward.
  • I will work hard to drive workforce development, economic development, and job growth to my district and to all of NE Ohio.
Ohio is a moderate, middle-of-the-road State. However, in Columbus, are leaders have taken us in a different direction. On issues from the environment, to organized labor, to LGBTQIA+ rights, to school funding, to common-sense gun legislation and more it is time our policies reflect our values more.
Speaker Tip O’Neill’s autobiography “Man of the House.” Speaker O’Neill was a “legislator’s legislator” and his book explains how to be a good and responsive legislator.
Passion, vision, commitment and being service-minded.
To fight for your constituents best interests, to understand the complexities of the district, and to be accessible to your constituents.
Parking lot attendant and school assistant librarian.
A solid working relationship built on mutual trust and compromise.
To be more reflective in all areas of the majority of our citizens and to be a more fair and democratic state that is more respectful of the environment, minorities and the middle and lower class.
There are many. Former State Rep. John Patterson, Former State Rep. and State Senator Kenny Yuko, and current State Senator Kent Smith and current State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney are some in particular.
State Senator Kent Smith, Former Senate Minority Leader Kenny Yuko, Former Speaker of the House Armond Budish, Euclid Mayor Kirsten Holzheimer Gail, South Euclid Mayor Georgine Welo, University Heights Mayor Michael Dylan Brennan and Beachwood Mayor Justin Berns. Also many other local elected city council and school board members.

I have also been endorsed by the Plain Dealer/Cleveland.com, Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund, Cleveland Building and Trades Council, North Shore AFL-CIO, Ohio AFL-CIO, Laborers Local 310, Iron Workers Local 17 and Pipefitters Local 120z
There are over 25 committees in the Ohio House. They are all interesting to me and it would be an honor to serve on any of them. Of particular interest are the Civil and Criminal Justice committees, State & Local Government, Technology & Innovation, Energy & Natural Resources, Behavioral Health, and Economic & Workforce Development.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Ohio

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
