Biography
Erica Hughes was born in Texas. Hughes' professional experience includes working as an attorney and judge. She served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 2015 to 2019. Hughes earned a bachelor's degree from Prairie View A&M University in 2003 and a J.D. from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2006.[1]

Hughes ran for judge on the Waller County Court at Law in Texas in 2010. She won the Democratic primary. She was defeated by incumbent June Jackson in the general election.[2][3]

Qualifications
To serve on a county court, a judge must:[4]
- be at least 25 years old;
- be a resident of his or her respective county for at least two years; and
- have practiced law or served as a judge for at least four years preceding the election.
