Biography
Erica Lawrence was born in Louisville, Kentucky. She earned a bachelor's degree from DePauw University in 2000, a master's degree from Trinity University in 2004, and a Ph.D. from Spalding University in 2010. Lawrence's professional experience includes working as a public school teacher, school counselor, principal, and counselor educator in the graduate programs at the University of Louisville and the University of the Cumberlands.[1]

Dr. Erica Lawrence is a woman of faith and family. She is a graduate of New Albany Sr. High School and DePauw, Trinity, and Spalding Universities. Professionally, Erica has served as a public school teacher, counselor, assistant principal and principal. Additionally, she is a counselor educator for graduate learners, a national presenter and facilitator on education topics, and a contributing author for Principal Magazine. Dr. Lawrence serves on the DePauw University Alumni Board and Alliance Francaise Board of Directors.
She is a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Erica and her husband Brandon have two children Georgia (13) and Edward-James (9).Erica is seeking election as State Representative to ensure a world-class education for Hoosiers through fully funded and resourced public schools and state of the art post-secondary options. She is passionate about family wellness factors including economic viability, workforce development, mental and physical health, veteran support, and pandemic recovery.- I'm running for State Representative because I believe in our community and its people. I believe in our ability to solve our own challenges. Each of us has a responsibility to do what we can to make our nation, our state, our individual community a better place to live. That's the passion I share with my family. That's the passion I brought to my career in education. That's the passion I'll bring as your next State Representative.
- I value the diversity of backgrounds, experiences, perspectives in District 72. We are all included in this dynamic community that we call home and we deserve a representative in Indianapolis who is a reflection of our collective vision. I promise to listen to your voice, learn from your contributions, and lead our community with courage and compassion. It is my hope that each citizen of District 72 sees in me a reflection of one or more of your identities. I am a parent, a daughter, and a working Hoosier who values achievement, hard work, and fun. I am all in for District 72.
- Hoosiers are Essential!! We need to care for the health and wellness needs during this global pandemic. We must plan the road to economic recovery through jobs and workforce development. Hoosier Households must have technology devices and high-speed Internet access to strengthen our pandemic recovery efforts.
Indiana health and recovery from the Covid pandemic crisis is a top priority. World class health care services and facilities ensure state of the art care and recovery. Workforce development and education are necessary to keep Hoosiers working and safe.
