Ballotpedia biographical submission form

The candidate completed Ballotpedia's biographical information submission form:

What is your political philosophy?

There is only one job associated with the Shadow Representative position: attaining statehood rights for the people of DC. I am running because there has been very little to no movement on this front in the 28 years that the job of Shadow Representative has been on the DC ballot.

Is there anything you would like to add?

Outside of pure partisanship, I can think of no reason why the residents of DC should re-elect an incumbent who has been unable to make any headway on the solitary project he was tasked with over his last four years in office.[3]

Candidate website

Metzroth’s campaign website stated the following:

WHAT I WILL DO:

  • Come prepared to employ a variety of strategies to get the job done once-and-for-all
  • Curry favor from both sides of the aisle thanks to my nonpartisan agenda
  • Communicate with Congresspeople who are truly sympathetic to our cause to iron out the details
  • Differentiate DC from the other US territories who also send Delegates to the House of Representatives
  • Highlight gross injustices DC residents are forced to endure while having our civil rights ignored (according to int'l minimums)... like paying the highest federal taxes per capita
  • Fight for the 94% of Washingtonians who think "taxation without representation is unfair" based on an April 2018 poll

WHAT I WON'T DO:

  • Stubbornly follow the same blueprint that has held us back for decades
  • Worry about reelection, party preferences, or self-promotion
  • Accept the status quo
  • Waste time attending events unrelated to the one true goal
  • Live up to the Shadow designation by keeping you in the dark for the next two years about our progress
  • Understand how only 28% of DC residents would vote "regardless of party" for a candidate who made ending taxation without representation the #1 priority when 67% of the exact same people would do it without that caveat[3]
