I was born and raised in District 131 with my family. I was fortunate to grow up watching my father serve as State Rep in this District two decades ago and served our community well. I was taught the value of public service as a child and those traditions carried me through my adult years. I spent 5 years in public service working for the Texas Secretary of State's office before transitioning to create my own Law Firm, Erik Wilson and Associates in the greater Houston Area. My wife, Amber, and I, later started our own nail spa business in the Cullen Rd. and Bellfort St. area. We later transitioned Heiress Nail Spa into First Colony Mall and became the only Black owned and operated nail salon in a major mall in Texas. I understand the value of structure, economic growth, and commitment to the community. I will use all my passion and skills to bring *Generational Wealth- to improve the job market, *Family Health- to improve our healthcare system and *Professional Knowledge- to provide resources that will impact neighborhoods and advance leadership opportunities.
  • Generational Wealth-improving our economy and job market, creating a stronger workforce industry, while providing opportunities for entrepreneurship growth.
  • Family Health-our healthcare system needs balance for seniors on a fixed income, for those in the middle class income household and ensuring affordable healthcare options are available to all.
  • Professional Knowledge-our community seeks leadership presence, knowledge about the advancement in their neighborhoods, opportunities that will benefit their District, economic impact, and bills to support and protect their best interests.
I'm passionate about policy that can bring about sustained financial security and stability for individuals, families, and seniors in my district. I'm also very interested in infrastructure improvements that can reinforce the energy grid and telecommunication in district 131. Finally, I want to improve the public schools in my district by obtaining additional funds for teachers and schools that will attract additional high level educators to my community.
My Father, Honorable Ron Wilson, former St. Rep. 131 because to this day I am told stories of how my father was able to help individuals in the district and no issue was too small.
An elected official should not be selfish. At its peak effectiveness, the position requires someone who is sacrificing for their communities benefit. The sacrifice can come in many forms but it is required to fully achieve the goals of making the community stronger and more healthy.
The most important is my honesty. Your word is your bond and I make sure that I keep the promises that I make to people. Second, I have the experience both as an attorney and a successful entrepreneur to put in place the policies that can help those in my district.
Your core responsibilities are to those who are in your district, whether they voted for you or not. You are required to do the job of listening to your voter concerns and understanding their needs and priorities so that you can better represent them during the legislative process that takes place in Austin.
I'd like to leave a legacy where I encourage and train some of the next leaders to take the baton after I've done my part to help the community.
I worked at a car dealership in sales as my first job. I held that job for about three years.
Hank the Cowdog was a book from my youth that I cherished because it was a dog that was trying to do his job against the odds and the adventures he found in an otherwise mundane life was inspiring to me.
I've struggled with the amount of selfishness I've seen in the world and in politics. I know as one man there's only so much I can do to help, but I have decided I will do everything in my power to combat those being selfish against others.
The ideal relationship would be one of trust in each other so that the two branches could work together towards the common good. The current adversarial relationship is counter productive towards the states long term goals.
Public education funding, economic stimulation of small businesses, and healing the divide of the parties.
Just like any business employment you want someone with the prerequisite experience to do the job and or exposure to real world situations that would prepare them for the task at hand..
I believe the only way to truly be successful is to build relationships with other legislators.
I'd want to model my governance style after my father, Ron Wilson.
I'm heard many stories about how my family has helped the community. The most impactful to me are the personal stories of when my father helped a constituent get their power turned back on when they were cut off for non-payment. To me things like this done for individuals are the very impactful and can be overlooked when you are representing the entire state or your district.
Why isn't a apple charger called apple juice?
I think if the legislature wants to oversee the use of emergency powers they would need to legislate the answer and come to a consensus together.
I believe collaboration is what's necessary to create and file legislative policies. All of us must work together to achieve our goals, and it is only through trust in each other than we can live together and make all of our dreams a reality.
I'd like to introduce a bill that would bring more opportunities for small business creation and operation to those within my district.
I'm interested in ways and means, economic development, and education
