Career
As of 2016, Bolster was a horse wrangler with Swan Mountain Outfitters, a Montana-based business that offers guided horseback tours of Glacier National Park and the surrounding region. On July 30, 2011, Bolster and her horse, Tonk, charged a grizzly bear that had threatened a child in her guided tour group. Bolster and Tonk drove the grizzly bear away, earning Bolster media recognition for her "skill, quick-thinking and guts." A feature story on the incident in the Spokesman-Review led to national recognition for Bolster and Tonk, which resulted in the duo's appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman in October 2011.[4][5]
Political activity
Bolster has been a member of the Montana Cannabis Information Association (MTCIA), a nonprofit organization based in Billings, Montana, that aims to provide qualifying Montanans with access to medical marijuana services. Bolster formed the MTCIA affiliate in the state's Flathead Valley region in December 2015.[6][7][8]
In March 2016, MTCIA unsuccessfully appealed the Montana Supreme Court's February 2016 ruling that upheld legislatively-enacted restrictions to the voter-approved Montana Marijuana Act of 2011. The group continued to support medical marijuana in Montana by backing the Montana Medical Marijuana Initiative, I-182, which proposed to amend the Montana Marijuana Act of 2011 by easing restrictions on medical marijuana providers.[9][10][11][12]
Ballot measure activity
In May 2016, Bolster contributed $10,000 to the Montana Cannabis Industry Association ballot question committee in support of the Montana Medical Marijuana Initiative, I-182.[3]
