Erin Brewer is a mom, small business owner, and public-school champion. And now, she's proud to be a candidate for State Senate District 47 where her family’s roots run deep. A fifth generation Oklahoman and long-time resident of the district, Brewer lives in Edmond with her husband, Shawn, and their two high school-aged children. The Brewers’ successful private equity firm is based here and their children attend Deer Creek Public Schools.

Brewer is well known for her fierce advocacy on behalf of students and families. She serves on the Regional Educational Laboratory Southwest Governing Board, on the National Association of School Crisis Responders Board and was the founder of Deer Creek’s Parent Legislative Advocacy Coalition.

She also brings experience in the nonprofit and business sectors. After a decade in nonprofit work, Brewer and her husband opened RedPin Bowling Lounge in Bricktown. As general manager, she recruited men and women transitioning out of the criminal justice system as employees. In addition, Brewer has served as board president for Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma, on City Care’s capital campaign committee and in volunteer roles at many nonprofit organizations. The family attends Skyline Church.

Brewer is committed to bridging political divides and working across the aisle to find common sense solutions to the issues we face.
  • Extreme partisanship is harming our state. Typical politicians aren’t listening, and they haven’t gotten us where we need to be. Brewer believes politics should be different. She believes in honesty, listening and service – not just scheming to get re-elected.

The last few years, she’s spent a lot of time as an advocate at the state Capitol urging politicians to fund our schools and support our families. Instead, political infighting and corruption have wasted tax dollars and missed economic growth opportunities.

Most issues transcend party lines, such as improving education, growing our economy, and improving healthcare. Brewer is ready work together to find common sense solutions that do the most good.
  • As a small business owner, Brewer understands that family businesses are vital to our communities. To be successful, companies need healthy, skilled employees. And, families need good-paying jobs to achieve financial stability and insulate them from rising inflation. The strength of our economy is directly tied to our quality of life. The investments our state makes in great public schools and universities, accessible healthcare, reliable infrastructure, and affordable housing allow our businesses to grow while attracting new corporate ventures. Brewer will support our Oklahoma-based businesses in energy, tech, healthcare, payroll, manufacturing, and more, ensuring they have the workforce and infrastructure to grow.
  • Brewer is a champion for public education. Public education is foundational to our democracy. Every student deserves an excellent neighborhood school with caring classroom teachers as promised in our state's constitution. The mass exodus of teachers from the classroom is our public schools’ greatest challenge. Dangerous politicians like Ryan Walter are harming our schools and our students. Brewer is prepared to hold him accountable for his mismanagement and division while shoring up the teacher pipeline to best serve our students.
Public education, access to healthcare and mental healthcare, economic growth, justice reform, government accountability, affordable housing
Governor George and Donna Nigh are role models for me. Governor Nigh was the youngest elected legislator in Oklahoma when he won his first race. He went on to serve for many years in the legislature, as Lieutenant Governor and finally, as Governor. He is now in his nineties and is a resident of Senate District 47. He shared with me that once elected, leaders must put party aside and become public servants. I am committed to following his advice and example and am grateful for his friendship and support.
Elected officials are public servants. They must put both ego and political party aside in order to do what's best for the constituents they represent. Elected leaders should be honest, accountable, transparent, and humble.
Like so many voters I have met, I am weary of political division. I hope my legacy will be one of healing divides, restoring statesmanship, and securing many bipartisan outcomes that benefit the citizens of Oklahoma for years to come.
I was five years old when President Ronald Reagan was shot by a would-be assassin and 10 years old when the Challenger Space Shuttle exploded after take-off. Both of these events were startling. I remember feeling united in collective emotion. Though these events forced the realization that we are not always safe or sure of the future, I was also reminded that our democratic institutions and ideals are worthy of sacrifice and commitment.
My very first job was as a babysitter. I started when I was 14 and served several families until I went to college. I adored those children and their parents and they are still dear friends of mine to this day. In high school and college, I spent summers working at my church and attending children's church camp as a counselor. In college, I worked for a florist near campus during the school year and at Express Employment Professionals in the summers. My internship for them gathering data on tax credits for employers who hired people leaving the justice system or transitioning off of welfare was impactful.
