Rider’s campaign website stated the following:

It’s time for the Republican party and District 2 to return to the core values that made it great, and I’m ready to lead the charge with my unique life experience and strong ethics. You deserve to have your voice back at the legislative table. Learn more about what I stand for and the positive changes I plan to make for everyday Utahns.
Sound Fiscal Policy Right now, Utahns are facing an abundance of historic economic challenges all at once. Skyrocketing home prices, supply chain crises, labor shortages, and severe economic inflation have created the perfect economic storm, crippling low and middle-income families all over the state. Young Utahns looking to buy their first home have had to delay this important milestone due to record-high real estate prices and impossible competition. Families of all shapes and sizes are having a hard time affording gasoline, groceries, and other basic commodities. Small businesses that represent the lifeblood of Utah’s bustling economy now struggle to find employees to stay afloat. Hard-working Utahns deserve accountable and dedicated representatives who will work diligently toward smart long-term economic solutions rather than handing off fiscal problems to the next generation. As your representative in Congress, I will work closely with state and local leaders to allocate federal dollars and incentives in ways that will benefit Utah families in this tumultuous time. I will advocate for sound, common-sense fiscal policy and ensure regular audits of the federal budget to ensure your tax dollars are not wasted. Most importantly, I will fight for a balanced budget to stop Congress from spending money we don’t have, leaving the next generation buried under a mountain of national debt.
Education As an attorney, I have experienced the value of education firsthand, and I have seen it open new doors and opportunities for hard-working Americans. Education and vocational training are essential to breaking cycles of poverty and creating economic well-being in our country. That’s why I want to focus on empowering Utah’s children to reach their full potential. Here in Utah, our rapid economic expansion has created a dire need for skilled workers to support this growth. Rising tuition costs across the state, however, are making this more difficult for many of Utah’s youth to achieve. In addition, the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have wreaked havoc on children and teachers alike as schools have struggled to keep up with constantly-changing regulations and inadequate resources. It is imperative to invest in education and prepare Utah students to compete with the rest of the world. As a representative for Utah, I will fight to combat climbing education costs so students can attend college without a lifetime of debt. I will work with state and local leaders to make sure teachers are equipped with the resources they need to provide quality education to students. I will promote the expansion of our digital infrastructure so that no student is left behind, and I will champion the creation of additional vocational education opportunities so that those seeking trade work have the opportunity to get ahead.
Jobs and the Economy Growing up in a middle-class home, I am a firm believer in the importance of supporting and empowering America’s middle class. The middle class is the heart and soul of Utah and all of America, and for too long, it has been overlooked and forgotten by Washington. Our resilient entrepreneurial spirit has established our state as a modern-day leader in the tech industry, and it’s time to bring that innovative enthusiasm to the public square. In Congress, I will support and strengthen Utah businesses and the middle class through advantageous tax cuts. I will do everything in my power to reduce unnecessary and burdensome regulations that hurt innovation and small businesses and fight to continue to attract new industries and high-paying jobs to Utah.
Second Amendment As a responsible gun owner, I strongly support the Second Amendment. While I am committed to defending the Constitutional rights of all law-abiding gun owners, I also believe we must continue to reduce gun violence through proper training and other gun safety initiatives. In Congress, I will fight to protect Second Amendment rights and work for common-sense, data-based solutions that keep Utah families, children, and neighborhoods safe.
Energy Independence Every American family and business needs access to reliable and affordable fuel sources. The continued health and well-being of Utah’s natural environment also necessitates the eventual movement to a clean-energy economy. Though I support the American pursuit of technological innovation in the clean-energy industry, I believe we should reconcile these endeavors with energy independence and affordability. I will firmly support energy policies that put us back on the path to energy independence, create jobs in the energy sector, and lower fuel prices for Utah families.
Protecting Utah’s Environment Utah is known for its unique and versatile landscape. From the red rocks of southern Utah to the snow-capped Wasatch Mountains, our stunning public lands have become an economic boon to our state, attracting tourists and outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world. We Utahns care deeply about the conservation of our natural resources and public lands, but the pinball policy-making approach currently espoused by the federal government has done little to help in these preservation efforts. In Congress, I will protect the places we all love, allocating federal dollars to the ongoing maintenance and support of publicly designated lands and ensuring the communities and tribes located on and near our federal lands all have a seat at the table in developing federal policy. Our public lands affect us all, and we must work together to make sure our children and grandchildren inherit a clean and beautiful Utah.[1] |
