Ernisa Barnwell
Ernisa Barnwell was a candidate for mayor of St. Petersburg, Florida. Barnwell was disqualified from the August 29, 2017 primary election.
Barnwell was disqualified from the mayor's race in June 2017 when her check for the qualifying fee was returned for insufficient funds. Barnwell sued the city, claiming that she was owed money that should be used to pay the fee. On August 9, 2017, circuit court judge Thomas H. Minkoff dismissed her lawsuit, and ruled that although her name would appear on the ballot, votes cast for her would not count.[1]
