Esther Lynise Bryant-Weekes
Esther Lynise Bryant-Weekes is a judge of the Michigan 36th District Court. Her current term ends on January 1, 2027.
Bryant-Weekes ran for re-election for judge of the Michigan 36th District Court. She won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Bryant-Weekes was appointed to the court by Democratic Governor Jennifer Granholm on October 29, 2007.[1] On November 4, 2014, Bryant-Weekes was re-elected unopposed for another six-year term.[2]
Bryant-Weekes is a former candidate for the 3rd Circuit Court.[3] She was defeated in the primary election on August 2, 2016.
Biography
Education
Bryant-Weekes received her bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University and her J.D. from the Wayne State University Law School.[1]
Career
Immediately prior to her appointment to the bench, Bryant-Weekes served as the commissioner on Detroit’s Civil Service Commission. She also previously worked as an attorney in private practice, for the City of Detroit Law Department, and as the director of personnel for the Detroit Police Department. Bryant-Weekes began her career with the Wayne County Neighborhood Legal Services, the Pittsburgh Legal Services, and the Northeast Ohio Legal Services.[1]

Michigan held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election occurred on August 2, 2016.
