My family has been in Elkton, Virginia on the same land for seven generations. I integrated Elkton High School graduating in 1971. I know that change is not easy, and I know change is possible. I believe the 34th District can embrace change while sustaining core community values to create a future that works for everyone.

After high school, I attended Morgan State University. After getting my teaching credentials at JMU, I taught fourth grade in Rockingham County. I moved from education to private enterprise with various companies in Georgia and Texas. Upon returning to care for my mother, I joined JMU as an Information Technology Training and Development Manager. In twenty years, I trained approximately 8500 faculty and staff to use technology.

My community service activities have included serving on boards of local organizations and four years as president of Harrisonburg Rockingham NAACP.
  • Together we can guild a better future – we can retain our core values & embrace change.
  • Leadership and Honest Engagement – I lead through honest engagement with everyone.
  • Compassionate Co-creation of Solutions – Our future is something we co-create through compassionate responses to the needs of our neighbors.
Make sure rural Virginia is connected to the 21st Century's economy, culture, and educational opportunities. Public transportation for rural residents to make sure they can reach work, medical appointments, cultural events, and educational opportunities. Affordable, stable, functioning broadband connection.

Support and respect for families. Make sure families have access to adequate income, healthcare, childcare, and family leave in order to thrive and raise the next generation. Supporting policies that provide access to affordable health insurance. Support the living wage. Invest state funds in developing childcare and expanding family leave.

Cultivating well-paid, respected, professional, and diverse public school personnel. Reinvest state funds for school buildings so that localities can focus their funds on paying teachers and providing support for students.
