Eugene Hoffman Nickerson (1918-2002) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He joined the court in 1977 after an appointment from Jimmy Carter. At the time of appointment, he was a private practice attorney in New York City. He assumed senior status on January 1, 1994, and served in that position until his death on January 1, 2002.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments

Eastern District of New York

Nickerson was nominated by Jimmy Carter on August 16, 1977, to a seat vacated by Orrin Judd; he was confirmed by the Senate on October 20, 1977, and received commission the next day. He assumed senior status on January 1, 1994, and served in that position until his death on January 1, 2002.[1] Nickerson was succeeded in this position by Frederic Block.
