Sunshine Review contributors conducted a study of Maryland school district websites from 2010 to 2013.

They researched to determine what type of information is available to the general public on these websites. The following page provides a snapshot of what they learned in the course of this research.

Conclusions chart

2012

In 2012, Sunshine Review re-evaluated the 10 largest school districts: Montgomery County Public Schools, Prince George's County Public Schools, Baltimore City Public School System, Baltimore County Public Schools, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Harford County Public Schools, Howard County Public Schools, Frederick County Public Schools, Carroll County Public Schools, and Charles County Public Schools. These school districts averaged a "B" website transparency grade, or 77 percent.

2010

In 2010, all of Maryland's school districts were evaluated by Sunshine Review. Maryland scored very high on six of the checklist items, earning an average grade of 62 percent, or a "C" transparency grade overall.
