Primary: She was defeated in the Democratic primary on March 4, 2014, receiving 47.4 percent of the vote. She competed against Annabel Chapa-Canales.

Garcia is a graduate of the San Diego High School.[4]
Career
Garcia has worked in the Duval County Courthouse for over twenty-five years. She has served in the Duval County District Clerk's office, the Duval County District Attorney's office, and was employed in the Duval County Sheriff's Department at the time of her candidacy.[4]
