I am a young progressive democratic independent. I grew up in the country near Baldwin Iowa and later moved to the small town of Oxford Junction. Now I live in Monticello and I've been working in Anamosa for 3 years. I've always been interested in politics, even in middle school I would debate economic policy with my peers. While my views have shifted since middle school my passion for politics has never changed. I first really got involved in politics after seeing a video Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders give a passionate speech about the Gulf war to an empty floor of the house. Soon after He launched his campaign for president in 2015 and I knew I had to get involved. I began knocking on doors in the dead of winter all across the county. Later I acted as the precinct captain at my caucus at the age of 17. Not long after I ran for city council in Oxford Junction in 2017. Recently I again acted as the Precinct Captain for Sen. Sanders campaign and Started my Campaign for State Representative.
  • My campaign receives zero PAC money so you know I'll work for you.
  • I'm a proud member of the working class and would be the youngest State Representative in Iowas history.
  • I'll work hard to implement progressive policy.
Getting money out of politics, implementing Prison labor reform, enacting a $15 Dollar minimum wage, Removing the luxury tax on feminine hygiene products, Restoring collective bargaining rights for teachers & other public workers, Expanding and protecting union rights, Advocating for clean water, Pass a green Iowa proposal, Increasing funding for planned parenthood, Implementing a statewide rank choice voting system to replace the Iowa caucuses.
The people I most look up to are Robert F. Kennedy, Senator Bernie Sander, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and my Mother. Id like to follow in the footsteps of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez. Whether you agree with her politically or not it's a huge feat to go from a bartender in Queens to one of the most influential politicians in America in such a short amount of time at such a young age. I find it very encouraging.
The core responsibilities for someone in elected office are to maintain life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Hurricane Katrina was the first major event I remember I believe I was 6 at the time.
My first job was as a Lawn and Garden Associate at the Anamosa Walmart. I worked in Lawn and Garden for two years until I moved to my current position as a Photolab Associate.
When You're Smiling by Michael Buble.
No, politics should not be a career. I believe all government positions at the state and federal level should be limited to 2 terms (of 4 years) for senate and executive and 4 terms (of 2 years) for House Representatives.
I believe climate change will be the biggest challenge for our state and the country as a whole.
I believe it should be done by an independent body based on equal representation by population.
