Campaign themes
2016
Tekorius' campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Regarding Education: Evon believes passionately we need leaders in Salem who know how to improve schools and are willing to fight for necessary changes. Regarding Local Jobs: Oregon isn’t an easy place to run a business. She loves living here but small businesses face big challenges in Oregon. The knowledge she gained from day to day operations qualifies her to be an advocate for fostering the growth of small businesses, which are the backbone of our economy. She will fight to curb these costly regulations, so once again our small mom and pop businesses can survive and create jobs necessary for our region. Regarding Fiscal Responsibility: Evon will work to bring fiscal responsibility to Salem by curbing frivolous spending. She will scrutinize every state budget to ensure we are living within our means and re-prioritize spending to key areas like education. There is no government agency that cannot be reduced in some form. Economic growth while covering essential services must be a component of any budget-balancing plan. Regarding Leadership: With a background in organizational management, Evon believes we need bipartisanship in Salem. As a local leader she has a record of working across the aisle to get things done for the betterment of the community. Her combined experiences along with the fact that she has grown up in this district makes her passionate about our community, willing to collaborate and fully understand how to do great work with limited funds.[2] |
