F. Richards Smith is a juvenile court judge for the Utah Fourth Judicial District. He was appointed by Gov. Gary Herbert (R) on November 7, 2012, to replace Sterling Sainsbury, effective in January 2013.[1][2]

Smith won a retention election on November 8, 2016.[3]

Smith received his J.D. from Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark Law School.[1] He began his career as an attorney with Howard, Lewis & Petersen. He then joined the Office of Guardian ad Litem and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) as an attorney. He became the office's director in 2007.[1]
