|- I believe there is voter apathy because voters have lost confidence and trust in government and in elected officials. I would like to restore that trust by serving competently, intelligently, with integrity, and high ethical standards. By serving and giving back to the community I grew up in, I hope to honor my mother, aunts, grandmothers, great grandmothers, and all the women who came before me. The women who toiled and sacrificed in silence; dreaming and praying for a better life for their children and their children’s children.
- Community safety and reducing crime is a priority. I currently work at the 34th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, awaiting admission to the Texas Bar. Every day I am inspired by the hard work, dedication, and heart that the attorneys and staff (including buddy the therapy dog) put forth in bringing justice to the victims of crime and their families. I commend law enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office for their commitment and perseverance in protecting the most vulnerable in society, and in bringing justice to our communities. Eradicating crime from our communities and keeping our neighborhoods safe is very important to me.
- We are all equal. We are all human beings that deserve to be treated with respect. Every individual has the right to love and be loved by whomever they choose, irrespective of gender. And everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. As an attorney, I support all laws that prohibit discrimination against individuals based on their sexual preference, gender identity, etc. I support the James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Act that allows trial courts to impose stiffer penalties for crimes based on color, race, sexual preference, disability, etc.
