I was born in El Paso and grew up in District 3. I served two tours in the Army and then served six years in the National Guard. I graduated Officer Basic Course and was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the National Guard. I worked as an attorney at the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development advocating for safe housing conditions. I worked as an auditor, auditing hedge funds for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Manhattan; and as a financial advisor for Santander Bank. As an immigration attorney I advocated for migrant children and successfully argued approximately one hundred Special Immigrant Juvenile Visa cases before various courts. I currently work at the 34th Judicial District Attorney's Office, awaiting admission to the Texas State Bar.
  • I believe there is voter apathy because voters have lost confidence and trust in government and in elected officials. I would like to restore that trust by serving competently, intelligently, with integrity, and high ethical standards. By serving and giving back to the community I grew up in, I hope to honor my mother, aunts, grandmothers, great grandmothers, and all the women who came before me. The women who toiled and sacrificed in silence; dreaming and praying for a better life for their children and their children’s children.
  • Community safety and reducing crime is a priority. I currently work at the 34th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, awaiting admission to the Texas Bar. Every day I am inspired by the hard work, dedication, and heart that the attorneys and staff (including buddy the therapy dog) put forth in bringing justice to the victims of crime and their families. I commend law enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office for their commitment and perseverance in protecting the most vulnerable in society, and in bringing justice to our communities. Eradicating crime from our communities and keeping our neighborhoods safe is very important to me.
  • We are all equal. We are all human beings that deserve to be treated with respect. Every individual has the right to love and be loved by whomever they choose, irrespective of gender. And everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. As an attorney, I support all laws that prohibit discrimination against individuals based on their sexual preference, gender identity, etc. I support the James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Act that allows trial courts to impose stiffer penalties for crimes based on color, race, sexual preference, disability, etc.
I care about ensuring that the citizens in my district are provided with a good quality of life. I will work to attract businesses to provide employment opportunities. And advocate for fair and decent living wages. I believe government has a responsibility to provide good public schools. As well as to partner with developers to provide affordable housing. Government has a responsibility to ensure community safety. Citizens should feel safe in their neighborhoods. Providing quality healthcare providers in the community is essential. Ensuring the aging population has access to the services needed is paramount. And advocating for mental health and substance abuse treatment for those in need should be a priority.
Elected officials should possess integrity, honesty, ethical standards, character and honor.
To serve as the representative of the citizens in district 3, and to be responsive to the issues that affect them. To work with the city manager, the other city representatives, and the mayor to effectively and efficiently run the city. To enact ordinances and resolutions in response to citizen needs, issues, etc. To approve a balanced budget and seek to reduce tax burdens. To ensure community safety, provide basic services, and work to improve quality of life. To work tirelessly for the benefit and betterment of all El Paso citizens.
I would like to leave the legacy that I helped people and that I improved their lives.
I was in my mid thirties, living and working in NYC when the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack occurred.
My first job was working at McDonalds for two years in high school.
In order to maintain trust, governments have a responsibility to be financially transparent to their citizens. And elected officials have a responsibility to hold themselves accountable to the citizens.
