The Judicial Update

Washington: In a joint press conference Thursday, the popular social networking site Facebook and the state of Washington's Attorney General Rob McKenna announced they would be filing lawsuits against the Delaware-based company Adscend Media, that they accuse of spamming Facebook users. The dual suits are part of an effort to reduce "clickjacking" scams that divert Facebook users to external sites selling goods and services. Facebook filed its suit in a Northern California federal court and the Washington Attorney General's Office filed suit in a US District Court in Seatlle. According to AG Mckenna's office, the target of their suits is "an ad network that is alleged to develop and encourage others to spread spam through misleading and deceptive tactics" and that "at one point ... lined the defendants' pockets with up to $1.2 million a month."[1]
