One of the 12 seats on the Fairfax County Public Schools school board in Virginia was up for special election on March 3, 2026. The special election took place following the resignation of Rachna Heizer, who was elected to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in December 2025.[1] The filing deadline for this election was January 2, 2026. A regular term on the board is four years.
Although elections for and positions on the board are officially nonpartisan, each major political party in Fairfax County endorsed a candidate. Former member Heizer was elected to the county board of supervisors as a Democratic candidate.[1] The county Democratic Party endorsed Dannan, while the county Republican Party endorsed Davis.[2][3]
