This measure sought to increase the current fire protection levy by a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a further five years in order to help pay for operational costs of fire protection services in the township.[2]

The question on the ballot:
Shall Fairgrove Township levy up to .5 mill ($.50 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) above the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6, of the Michigan Constitution, and levy it for 5 years, December 1, 2011 through December 1, 2015 inclusive, for the purpose of raising revenues for fire protection service in Fairgrove Township, raising an estimated $25,000.00 in the first year the millage is levied.[3] |
