My name is Faith Rivera and I would like to be your next State Representative. I am a voting rights activist with a track record of fighting for Wyandotte County. Growing up in Rosedale, I was raised by a single mom. After escaping an abusive relationship, I had to raise my two kids alone. I understand what it's like trying to survive paycheck to paycheck. I want to take that knowledge to Topeka. Turner and Argentine deserve a Representative who can fight for them. I want to be that advocate for my community.
  • The right of a woman or girl to make autonomous decisions about her own body and reproductive health including family planning are basic rights to equality, privacy, and bodily integrity. The Kansas State legislature should not have a say in conversations that should be between a woman and her doctor. I believe governing leaders should protect all women and maintain the Kansas Constitution as it reads abortion being a medical proceeder.
  • As a pharmacy tech I see the need to increase access to affordable healthcare. Kansans do not need to go into further debt for doctor visits, medications and treatments. Most importantly, many illnesses can be intercepted when access is available. By expanding KanCare not only could it provide access to preventative healthcare, health promotion by fostering healthy living in reducing the risk for disabilities and death. It would also contribute to our economic growth in the state of Kansas.

It is time for Kansas to legalize medical marijuana. As a result, we can become a state that produces cannabis cultivation and distribution. This would in turn create jobs and tax revenue to assist in raising teachers wages, infrasture, and invest in our communities. Furthermore, by also decriminalizing the use of cannabis it would aid our judicial system in reducing the prison population and free up government funds for areas that need a boost.
Transparency, engagement and impartiality are a few traits I wish for in leadership.
Yes, I hope to continue my growth. But before I do my goal is to mentor someone to replace me.
