Two seats on the St. Landry School Board were up for special election on October 19, 2013. District 3's seat was open due to the incumbent, John Miller (D), pleading guilty to bribery charges on July 1, 2013. Faltery Jolivette (I) was appointed to temporarily fill the seat until the special election could be held. District 6's seat was open due to the death of incumbent Ronald Carriere (R) in March 2013. Donnie Perron (D) was appointed to fill the seat until the special election.[1]

Jolivette ran to complete the remainder of Miller's term, but was defeated by Milton "Coach" Ambres (D). Perron defeated Bambi Polotzola (D) and retained the seat for the remainder of Carriere's unexpired term.[2]
