A citizen initiative designed to amend the city charter to implement approval voting was on the ballot for Fargo voters in North Dakota on November 6, 2018.[1] It was approved.

A yes vote was a vote in favor of changing the electoral system in the city of Fargo from plurality voting to approval voting, whereby voters may vote for any number of candidates they choose in local elections.
A no vote was a vote against changing the electoral system in the city of Fargo from plurality voting to approval voting.

Approval voting allows voters to vote for any number of candidates they choose. The candidate with the highest overall approval wins the election.

The group Reform Fargo led the petition campaign to place Measure 1 on the ballot.

Reform Fargo needed 1,349 signatures to place the measure on the ballot. The group gathered 1,923 valid signatures, and the Fargo City Commission approved the ballot language on August 27, 2018.[1]
